In the beginning there was shite!
Welcome to my new blog site which I am still in the process of working on. There are a number of features still to come (including a Grump-o-meter!!). Some links don't work yet but please bear with me, this is low priority stuff (I still need to work for my keep) but it should be all running shortly.
If you were a regular visitor to the old site you will notice that the performance of the this site is much better. The old site was hosted by Apple under a .Mac (that is 'dotMac') account and performance was unacceptable when you take into account who hosting it and how much it cost me for the account (see the bottom of my new home page).
Another reason for the move was because of another Apple related problem in that I was unable to clear a 'missing page' error in iWeb. I checked out the .Mac support and discussion boards to discover that this is a common and long running problem but with no fix from Apple. Although fairly minor the problem was making updates to the site very long winded.
Slow to view and slow to update as well as buggy, enough is enough! I have redesigned the site from scratch in Lotus Domino which is much more within my 'comfort zone' it also frees me from only being able to update the site from one computer. The site can be maintained from any PC or Mac web browser.
The one thing that the old site will continue to serve is my photos and music files. The two reasons for this are that:
a) I've paid for the space so I'm going to use it for something!
b) I'm happy to admit that the iWeb 'slide show' feature is well implemented and it IS easy to post photos to the web, even if it is a little slow!
I have now migrated all the old Cajiao blog articles over to the new site. Have a look around, have a bit read and let me know what you think by clicking on the link below.
